There are a lot of myths and misconceptions concerning Matte Finish paintwork and what can and can’t be done.

First off, most of our ceramic coating range is suitable for Matte Finish paintwork. It will not make it shiny or damage it in any way. At most, it adds a slight sheen to it.

Matte Finish paintwork cannot be machine polished to remove scratches. The reason for this is quite simple, the lacquer coat that is applied to the paintwork is designed to be uneven, which causes the light to refract on it, making it appear matte. If it is polished, it will even it out and therefore make it shiny.  This is why it is sensible to have a ceramic coating applied as soon as possible, so as to protect the finish.

Waxes cannot be applied and choice of shampoo is also really important because most shampoos have added waxes & silicones (it’s also why automated car washes, etc should not be used).

Our ceramic coatings can seal your matte paintwork without adding shine and our shampoo / snowfoam is designed to work with the ceramic coatings.

Main benefits of a CF ceramic coating on Matte Paintwork:

  • Seals the paintwork with a 9H or 10H Scratch resistant surface
  • Does not make it shiny
  • Hydrophobic
  • UV Resistant
  • Easier maintenance
